Host an AmeriCorps Member

Does your organization work to improve the well-being of children and families in rural Colorado? Could you utilize an AmeriCorps member to expand or implement new projects or programs?

Led by the United Way of Southwest Colorado (UWSC), Team UP AmeriCorps places AmeriCorps members directly at local organizations (aka Host Sites) to expand or implement new programs and projects. Through collaborative service, members develop their own professional skills and passions, expand effectiveness of southwest Colorado organizations, and ultimately support people to thrive.

United Way of Southwest Colorado holds the federal grant directly from AmeriCorps & Serve Colorado. UWSC acts as a rural intermediary by taking on the bulk of the administrative and financial responsibilities of managing the program while members serve directly at local organizations.

To apply to be a Host Site for the 2023-2024 Program Year, starting in September 2023, please fill out the PY 23-24 Host Site application
A few things to note and tips to consider as you prepare your application:
  • As you consider your ideal AmeriCorps position, please consider what could set this AmeriCorps position apart from staff roles. How could your proposed position benefit not only your organization and the community but also benefit the AmeriCorps member by providing a robust professional experience?
  • Another change from previous years is that our positions no longer have to specifically focus on serving youth; your proposed position needs to serve community members but can span the whole age spectrum from cradle to career.
